2. What are Non-Food Items (NFI)?

In the humanitarian sector, NFIs are essential items distributed to people affected by conflict or natural disasters to maintain their health, privacy, and dignity.

Common NFIs requested by CARE Ethiopia include:

• Shelter: Plastic sheeting (tarpaulins), ropes, and basic tools.

• Household: Blankets, sleeping mats, and kitchen sets (pots, plates, spoons).

• Hygiene (WASH): Jerry cans, buckets with lids, and laundry soap.

• Dignity Kits: Specific items for women’s health and hygiene.

3. How to Obtain Bidding Documents

The process for this tender is entirely digital. You must visit one of the following portals to download the full dossier:

• Fee: ETB 500.00 (Non-returnable).

4. Eligibility & Submission

To be successful in a Framework Agreement with an international NGO like CARE, your proposal should demonstrate:

• Scalability: The ability to supply large volumes of items at short notice across various regions (Afar, Amhara, Oromia, Somali, Tigray, etc.).

• Quality Control: Adherence to international humanitarian standards (e.g., Sphere Standards for tarpaulin thickness or blanket thermal units).

• Financial Stability: Since this is a long-term agreement, CARE will look for a supplier with strong financial standing.
